Early Day Motion 773

Although I'm a fan of private companies providing services to the NHS, caution must be made to ensure robust rules and frameworks are in place. One thing that has alarmed me recently is the omission of subjecting private providers to Freedom of Information (FOI) requests, in-fact the current legislation allows private providers to reject any FOI requests based on "Commercial Confidentiality" - something that has already hindered FOI requests at a local level. It is utterly disgusting that a private company providing public services, being paid for by public money, can legally decline to respond to FOI request.

For that reason, is it paramount that this Early Day motion, EDM 773; http://www.parliament.uk/edm/2012-13/773 is carried forward and urge everyone to e-mail their MP asking that they sign it.
