Google Trends screensaver

Google trends is a pretty cool tool to see what people are searching for around the world, but they now have a pretty cool visualisation that can be set by regions. You can see it in action here.

It's pretty awesome, and looks great as a screen saver! You can do this by;

Mac;

1) Download this file here and install it. (It allows a web page to be a screensaver)

2) Double click on the download file and it will open up System Preferences -> Click on 'Screen Saver options' and paste the following url;

http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends/visualize?nrow=3&ncol=5&pn=p9

(This shows trends for the UK only, if you want to view the stats change the last 9 to a 1. If you want to display all regions then remove '&pn=p9')

3) That's it. - Note - It uses Safari so if you use another browser you may need to open Safari and log into Google.

Windows;

1) Download this file here

2) Move it into the Windows/System32 folder

3) Set the screensaver to 'Web-Page Screensaver'

4) Click settings and change the url to;

http://www.google.com/trends/hottrends/visualize?nrow=3&ncol=5&pn=p9

(This shows trends for the UK only, if you want to view the stats change the last 9 to a 1. If you want to display all regions then remove '&pn=p9')

Enjoy.
